Lake Oconee Academy Does It Again!

Lake Oconee Academy, or LOA, does it again!!  They received excellent scores on the Georgia Department of Education’s College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) for the 2015-2016 school year.  The CCRPI is a platform that is used to measure how well schools are preparing their students for college and careers.  This tool is used on individual schools, districts, and the state itself.  According to the Georgia DOE, the CCRPI has four main components:  Achievement, Progress, Achievement Gap, and Challenge Points.  They also report information such as school climate, financial efficiency status, and performance of student subgroups.  LOA’s overall score is 97, which is up from last year’s score of 94.2.

LOA’s scores far surpassed those of the state scores.  You can compare them below:

Elementary School:  State – 71.7   LOA – 97.2

Middle School:  State – 71.5   LOA – 97

High School:  State – 75.7   LOA – 96

Overall Score:  State – 73.6   LOA – 97

As reported by the AJC.com, LOA’s 2016 CCRPI scores rank them as follows:

Elementary School:  top 2% in the state (#22 out of 1250 that recorded a score)

Middle School:  top 3% in the state (#13 out of 592 that recorded a score)

High School:  top 7% in the state (#31 out of 451 that recorded a score)

Dr. Ortho Tucker, CEO of LOA, stated, “I am extremely pleased with the 2016 CCRPI scores.  We will certainly experience fluctuations in scores from year to year, but the overall consistency in academic achievement demonstrated by our students is very important.  LOA’s scores are comparable to the best public schools and districts across the state, even among schools that are able to select students, such as magnet schools and schools for the gifted, as opposed to LOA students who are admitted through a lottery.”
